What Paul is teaching us, is not to estimate or evaluate ourselves according to our earthly state or position, but according to our heavenly.

On earth we may be nobodies, having nothing, being nothing in comparison to others – but that doesn´t matter anymore.

Everything has been changed totally and dramatically!

We are now children of the Most High God, Creator and Lord of heaven and earth, and everything that is His now belongs to us: we are now “heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ.”

And we have an absolutely top position: seated on the throne together with the Supreme Lord of the universe, Jesus Christ. On top of that, overwhelming new possibilities have been opened up for us: “all things are possible for him who believes.”

What does it mean to “seek those things which are above, set your mind on things above”?

To change our little, limited perspective and evaluation of ourselves and our circumstances and “be transformed through the renewing of our mind”, so that we begin to think the thoughts of God about ourselves, our position and abilities.

We must fill our minds with thoughts of our heavenly reality and position, which has now become our fundamental reality, until this is so completely steadfastly settled in our hearts, that nothing that happens to us can shake it.

We are now united with the One who will ultimately rule over the whole universe, belong to a kingdom that is going to encompass the whole earth, and we have a unique role to play in the implementation and fulfilment of this.

Our Lord has by His Spirit imparted everything we need to be His co-workers in the greatest enterprise of history and the day will come when we will rule together with Him in eternal glory and bliss.
