A truly spiritual person is somebody with a strong and clear identity, someone who knows who

he/she is.

If we don´t know who we are, we cannot live the life we ought to live, or fulfil the work we are determined for and called to do.

We will never know our true identity until we are fully united with Jesus Christ.

He is our true identity, our authentic self, and when He has become our life, our essential and fundamental identity, then and only then we know who we truly are.

A self-centred person has a false identity, a Christ-centred person has a true identity.

Identity is always spirit-formed and is therefore only spirit-realized. But our human spirit doesn´t function independently, it is energized determined and directed either by “the spirit of the world” or by “the Spirit of God”.

The Holy Spirit alone knows the Essence and Reality of God, the Source of personality.

When the Spirit of God has united Himself with my spirit and made me alive in the essence of my being, I begin to know who I am: a person, just like God.

“Spirit” is the essence and reality of a person.

“God is Spirit”: the Absolute Person. He has eternal, unchanging identity: “I AM WHO I AM!”

God is the Source of personality and Jesus is the Full and Perfect Manifestation of a true person in flesh and blood: the Manifested, Visible “I AM”: “the radiance of the glory of God and the exact representation of His nature.” (Heb.1.3)

“That which is born of the flesh is flesh”: unregenerated man is dominated by his body and outward senses and on top of that his spirit is “darkness”. Therefore, such a person not only has a limited, but also false identity, and doesn´t know who he/she really is.

“That which is born of the Spirit is spirit”: when we are born-again, we begin to find our true identity, to know who we really are and as we grow and are “strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man”, this identity becomes clearer and stronger.
