A word of encouragement for your day.
A REFLECTION
"We all with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit."
My sole raison d'être, the sole purpose of my life, is to be a reflection of Jesus Christ, of His glory.
For that to happen, the Spirit must allow me to be transformed into his image step by step, "from glory to glory."
The word for transformation means metamorphosis: an ugly caterpillar is transformed into a colourful butterfly. We are transformed into the likeness of "the fairest among the sons of men."
This requires an uninterrupted beholding of Christ.
I can only have His glory as a reflection, not something inherent.
So, the moment I stop beholding, I stop reflecting.
It is something dynamic and living, not something static!
This involves a total and momentary dependence on the Holy Spirit.
He is the Jesus-lover, the one who constantly draws my eyes to Him and the one who performs the transformation of my life into a Christ-life: "He will glorify me," says Jesus, "for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you."
How does the Spirit accomplish this transformation?
He draws me to the Word and reveals Christ to me in the Word, and brings me into an intimate communion of love with Him in prayer: "praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God," says Jude.
"The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you."
Wonderful Holy Spirit, my Friend and Helper!
The Spirit awakens an intense longing for Christ in me: "One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I
shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple." (Ps.27:4)
He is the one who makes Christ real to me and in me, the one who constantly prays in my spirit "with groanings too deep for words."
Without Him the spiritual life is impossible.
The secret is to never extinguish the fire of the Spirit in our hearts, but to be so sensitive to Him that we constantly respond to his promptings inside of us.
Then our life is being transformed into a reflection of Christ!
