SECURE IN THE LOVE OF THE FATHER

"… rooted and grounded in love."
— Ephesians 3:17

Without Love, we cannot be "real" people, not mature and whole persons.

Just as a flower needs light and water to grow and blossom, you need to be daily warmed by the good light of God's Love and drink in its life-giving water.

Love is the substance of your person, the nourishment you need to grow and develop.

Therefore, you must have "roots" in God's Love.

"Rooted" immediately brings to mind a plant. Your spiritual life is dynamic and alive, it grows and develops if it is normal, just like “a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream. Its leaves are always green and it never ceases to yield fruit.”

The roots of your person must reach out to the stream: down into the depths, until you find the living flows of God's Love in your life.

It was this "living water" Jesus spoke about with the woman at the well of Sychar.

Nothing in the world can ever satisfy you or quench the deep thirst of your soul except for God's Love.

"Grounded" refers to a house.

You know that Jesus speaks of "a wise man who built his house on the rock." Torrential rains, floods and stormy winds could not overturn it - "because it was founded on the rock."

The name of that Rock is the Love of God, it is eternal and unchanging, God's own nature: "God is Love."

No circumstances, however difficult and contradictory, and no power in the universe can separate you from God's almighty love.

The house is your life.

You build it together with the Holy Spirit.

When nothing can take away the certainty that you are loved by God, regardless of what happens, you are absolutely secure in His Love, and can stand firm and unshakable in all weathers!
