ONLY THROUGH JUDGMENT

"Indeed, in the way of Your judgments, o Lord, we have waited for You eagerly. Your name, even Your memory, is the desire of our soul. At night my soul longs for You, indeed my spirit within me seeks You diligently; for when the earth experiences Your judgments, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness."
— Isaiah 26:8-9; see also 30:18

We can only know the Lord, Righteousness, through judgment!

Only when we have been justified can we have "peace with God", i.e. live in a harmonious and close communion with Him, without the constant disturbances of the self-life.

The only righteousness that is acceptable to God is “the righteousness of God”, revealed and lived

out by Jesus Christ, and we can never ever perform it ourselves, only receive it in humble faith.

That faith is not born in us until all our complacency and self-righteousness have been crumbled by

God's judgment on all that we are and have in ourselves, so that we are prepared to let go of our obstinate grip on our own life and exchange it for Christ.

When Christ is seated on the throne in “a broken and contrite heart”, the justifying faith can be born there through the Spirit of God.

The heart of stone with its proud spirit must be broken before the Spirit of God can enter and make the righteousness of Jesus Christ our righteousness. Only then can we begin to live the life God wants us to live.

The Lord, "the high and exalted One," dwells only "with the contrite and lowly of spirit" (Isa.57:15).

Is our longing for a deep and genuine fellowship with God strong enough to allow God to put us through the judgments absolutely necessary to get us there?
