Only in “the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ” can we find deep and true satisfaction and fulfilment to become whole and complete persons.

This makes us a serious threat to the rule of Satan over mankind.

Keenly aware of this, countless demonic powers, armed with all the tricks and craftiness of hell, work

tirelessly to influence the spiritually interested persons, to, if possible, lead them astray from the

truth and reality in Jesus Christ and instead indulge in the illusions of their minds.

This happened to the Galatians, and therefore Paul cries out in chapter 3: “You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you (i.e. cast an evil spell on you to exercise evil power over you), before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified?”

We desperately need to understand that in no other area of human life is the risk of being deceived and led astray greater than in the spiritual domain.

We will inevitably fall prey to these misleading forces, if we have not died away from our own soulish ambitions and dreams and “the old man” with all its tendency to self-realization, self-satisfaction and self-delusion has not been crucified.

Because of the fall, our natural mind is open and inclined to illusion and deception, and because of

that all trust in our own ability to search and understand the spiritual world must be totally rejected and eradicated.

This is a deep and painful process, not the least for the spiritually gifted and mentally richly endowed person, because it includes not only our intellectual and emotional capacities but also our natural intuition.

Our only security lies in being so totally stripped of everything we are and can accomplish in and by

ourselves, that we become like little helpless babes completely dependent on the Holy Spirit.
