Every human being is spirit-influenced and spirit-fashioned, since man is fundamentally a spiritual being.

The problem is that most people, just like the disciples, are not conscious of “what kind of spirit” is inspiring and directing them.

Since all of us are spirit-fashioned, we all are also spirit-transmitters.

So, whenever you meet another human being, you are also influenced by the spirit fashioning that person and radiating from him/her.

Our words are spirit-carriers and each time we open our mouths, spirit comes out. That´s why the Bible says: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

If we don´t perceive and understand this dire reality, we will be the unconscious victims of manipulating spirits operating in the invisible world.

That´s why Paul informs us in Ephesians 6:12 that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood” – not against the different physical actions and manifestations of people around us – but against wicked, spiritual forces influencing them.

In everything human, there is also a superhuman element.

The pharisees were totally unaware of the demonic influence in their enmity against Jesus and reacted violently against Him, when He pointed out that “you are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father.”

Are we conscious of the fact that each time we commit sin, we are acting as the devil´s offspring, since he is the source of all wickedness, as John points out in 1 John 3:8: “The one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning.”

According to the Word of God, reality is black and white, darkness and Light, the devil and Christ, evil spirits and the Holy Spirit.

At the centre of it all is man!

To be “born in sin” is to be born into a world alienated from God and saturated by a spirit opposed to Him.

Our only security lies in submitting our lives completely to Him, who has crushed the head of the serpent, and is now seated at the right hand of God “far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.”

United with Him in our spirit, all other spirit-influence will step by step be blotted out in us and we will become increasingly influenced and fashioned by the Spirit of Christ.
