The body is not primarily for our own pleasure.

It exists first and foremost for the pleasure and satisfaction of the Lord, and the Lord is the prime pleasure and satisfaction of the body, not sex.

The body is not primarily physical-sexual – it is fundamentally spiritual.

Therefore, its highest satisfaction is the Lord, the Spirit: “the Lord is for the body.”

“The body is for the Lord”: He has bought it with the highest price – it belongs to Him, not to you and me.

We cannot do what we like with our body. It is not our own. We have to do what He likes, what satisfies Him.

The great question is not how I feel in my body, but how He feels.

The body belongs to the Lord, yes, and the Lord belongs to the body: “The Lord is for the body.”

This is one of the most amazing statements of the Bible!

The Lord claims the body, watches over it, jealously guards it and completely gives Himself to it, because He died for our body, not only for our soul.

The Holy Spirit jealously desires our body (Jam.4:15).

It is His vehicle, His place of abode and means of manifesting Jesus Christ.

And the Spirit also gives all His powers, all His glory to our bodies. Every cell of our body belongs to Him and He belongs to every cell of our body.

The Holy Spirit not only jealously desires our body, but also loves it intensely. He is “the river of delights” that completely satisfies our body.

And when Jesus Christ is being manifest in our bodies through the Holy Spirit, the Father is fully pleased and satisfied.

Spirit, soul and body in complete union and harmonious co-operation is the normal Christian life – for His pleasure!
