A word of encouragement for your day.
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE BODY
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought for a price: therefore, glorify God in your body."
Salvation includes our body – it is “bought,” redeemed, paid for with the highest possible price: the blood of Christ.
The Lord God demands it for Himself, desires to own our body completely and fully and be free to dispose of it for His purposes.
Both the devil and the Lord desire our bodies.
Neither of them can accomplish anything, cannot realize their purposes, in this physical world without our bodies.
The body is the place of manifestation of the Spirit, its only instrument and means of expression in
the visible world.
Therefore, the atonement does not only apply to our spirit, but equally to our soul and perhaps even
more so to our body.
The purpose of the atonement cannot be realized without our bodies.
Christ cannot do what He wants in this world if He does not have access to our bodies.
The atonement is ineffective if it does not include the body.
Therefore, Paul’s entire teaching on the atonement and justification culminates in the words about the body in Romans chapter 12:1, “Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, your spiritual service of worship.”
This verse is the climax and ultimate goal of the letter to the Romans.
All of the preceding is ineffective if we do not follow the exhortation in these words.
So crucial is the importance of the body!
