THE ONLY ONE

"For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; … the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, ..."
— Colossians 1:13-15; 1 Timothy 2:5-6

The only one who can “rescue” us from the “domain of darkness” (the devil’s authority and dominance over us) is the One who has never been under that influence: “the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all.”

Only the sinless can redeem the sinful.

Only “the beloved Son,” who has kept the image of God unscathed and intact, can restore fallen humans to their original destiny as the image of God.

Redemption means “the forgiveness of sins.”

Our sins are our entire independent life of disobedience.

It must be exchanged for His loving life of obedience.

The false man must be exchanged for the true man

He Himself is our ransom: “we have redemption” only “in Him.”

As long as we stand in ourselves and want to keep our own life, we are under the dominion and influence of darkness.

We are therefore not redeemed until the beloved Son himself has become our life.

When Christ has become our life, our reality, we are free from all influence of the prince of darkness.

There is no freedom outside of Christ – only “in Him.”

We are not restored to the image of God until we are in the “image of the invisible God.”

The death of Christ is the end of our independent life of disobedience.

Salvation means that we give up our own life, place our whole life under the lordship of Christ, and begin to live a life of complete obedience to Him.

When the beloved Son lives his loving life of obedience in us, we are redeemed.

He is the Only One who can live the true life of God!
