A word of encouragement for your day.
THE HUMAN AND THE SPIRITUAL (2)
"That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him."
In the new birth, a fundamental change/transformation of man takes place.
A change in his basic essence.
He is no longer “flesh,” but “spirit.”
He has been invaded and re-created by the Spirit of God, raised to a new, heavenly/divine dimension of life – a life like God, a life like the only true man, Jesus Christ.
Now he has also become a ‘true’ man.
His calling and task is now to live a genuine human life, a spiritual life, in a world full of fallen, false and distorted people.
Just as Jesus did – the most beautiful person who ever walked among people.
There is nothing more beautiful than a spiritual person – a person who is no longer dominated, controlled and defined by the “flesh”: by his perverted lusts and desires – but a person who is dominated, controlled and defined by the Holy Spirit.
Such a person is a “holy” person.
Holiness is the nature of God, that which characterized the man Jesus Christ.
Holiness is the most beautiful thing there is!
A holy person is not a ‘pillar saint’ who looks down on, despises and judges others – not an unnatural person, afraid of what is human, afraid of being contaminated by the impurity and filthiness of the world.
No, he is gripped by the same loving compassion for his fellow human beings as Jesus and knows that he is not a bit ‘better’ than anyone else.
The only thing that separates him from ‘sinners’ is the Sinless one – and He sends him out to his fellow human beings in God’s great mission of salvation.
Therefore, a spiritual person lives among people to be a “light” – someone who points to something
noble and beautiful, who attracts and draws them to their destiny: the “Light of the world”, Jesus.
The spiritual should be lived in the human context.
