THE END-TIME CHURCH (4)
"Behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome… I looked, and behold, in the midst stood a Lamb as though it had been slain."
Revelation 5:5, 6.
What is the greatest necessity of the end-time Church, the absolute pre-requisite for emerging victorious in the precarious times ahead of us?
The revelation of the Lamb of God: the victory He has won and the unrivalled greatness of His atonement, revealed in chapter five and which permeates the rest of the book.
From chapter five right through to the final chapter of the Book of Revelation, the Lamb is mentioned over 30 times.
The Lamb that was slain is the victorious Lion of Judah, and only those who truly know the power of the blood of the Lamb will be able to overcome the dragon’s furious attacks against the church of the last days (1/.).
What is the power of the blood of the Lamb?
The divine powers of the atonement!
Through them, we stand before God as perfect and spotless as His beloved Son, and are as victorious in all temptations and trials as Him.
For through the atonement, we stand in the ever-purifying power of the blood of Jesus and in the ceaselessly renewing and transforming flow of His Holy Spirit.
At every moment, the old (all our mistakes and sins) is wiped away. Every second, we are transformed into the beautiful image of Jesus and receive ever-renewed strength to press on in victory over the devil and his attacks against us.
Therefore, we need never accept any condemnation or any accusation from the devil, nor dwell on our failures.
In the atonement, and in it alone, we are perfect before God and beyond the reach of the spiritual forces of darkness.
That is why we must learn to live unceasingly in the atonement and trust in nothing else – not in our knowledge of the Bible, our devotion or our desperate attempts to live the Christian life, but solely in Christ, who is Life itself.
The redemption is the greatest and most powerful force in the universe, the reality that remains when all else has passed: the creative power of “new heavens and a new earth.”
The Book of Revelation is about God’s final triumph in the great drama of human history – and it is founded entirely on the slain Lamb!
It is absolutely essential for the end-time church to be founded on the mighty power of atonement and to be permeated by this greatest of all realities.
