RESURRECTION LIFE (4)
"If we are children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. But we all, with unveiled face, reflecting as a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit."
What does the resurrection life lead to?
Glory!
A glory that is so overwhelming, says Paul, that all the difficulties, trials and sufferings we must go through on our earthly journey are nothing compared to the glory which will be ours.
He is talking about the glory of the age to come.
And it cannot be described with the words of this age.
It is too powerful and great and exists in a completely different dimension and reality than the current physical one – a reality that we can now only guess at.
When will we get to see it?
When Jesus returns on the clouds and we are caught up to meet Him.
Then in an instant we will be completely transformed into His glorious image.
Physically too.
But already now that transformation can take place step by step!
It happens when we “with unveiled face” see and begin to “reflect the glory of the Lord like a mirror.”
What is meant by “unveiled face”?
Or what is meant by “the veil” and how is it removed?
The veil is our carnal self-life, our stubborn self-absorption.
It only disappears when we wholeheartedly turn to the Lord (2 Cor.3:15-16).
And unfortunately, we have to be forced to do so through suffering.
Therefore, says Paul, we must suffer with Christ if we are to be glorified with Him.
It is inevitable.
We must die to ourselves in order to rise with Christ and share His glory.
And the deeper that death is allowed to happen now, the more His glory will shine through on our faces in this life.
Then we will have a foretaste of the final glory of the resurrection life!
Have you had that?
