An intact Christ-consciousness is the prerequisite for living in unbroken communion with Jesus and continually receiving from Him the authority to triumph in every situation.

A strong Christ-consciousness can only be formed through a clear spirit-consciousness.

What does it mean to be spirit-conscious?

First and foremost, it means being aware of the Holy Spirit’s constant presence within His temple—our body—and developing a sensitivity to His inner warnings and promptings, so that we are continually led by Him.

It also means gaining a clear understanding that it is in union with our spirit—the centre and deepest reality of our being—that the Spirit of God performs His work.

He has made us one spirit with Jesus Christ, the Source of our life; from Him, streams of living Spirit-water flow ceaselessly, renewing our soul and body and pouring out through us to the world around us.

That is why God works to sanctify our spirit—to set it apart and cleanse it of everything that stains or clouds it, of any influence that obscures or disturbs the spirit.

Then we can develop a deep and intimate relationship with Christ, and the Holy Spirit is given free rein to teach and guide us; this leads to an ever-clearer understanding of our spiritual authority, enabling us to bring our unruly soul and carnal body under the lordship of Christ.

If we allow the Spirit to work, He draws us ever deeper into fellowship with our Father. We then grow in power in our inner self through His Spirit and become increasingly aware of the immense strength residing in our spirit.

Therefore, the Holy Spirit works to make us increasingly spirit-conscious.

God’s Word is His primary tool in this process.

When we read His Spirit-inspired and Spirit-filled Word—not merely quickly and fleetingly, but allowing it to penetrate deeply—something wonderful happens: we become increasingly aware that we are truly spiritual beings.

It is as if the life of the Spirit is brought to light and becomes our most precious treasure—one we would not lose at any price and strive to protect from harmful influences.

Spirit-conscious people are clear-sighted and vigilant!
