We must be completely invaded and ruled by the Spirit of God.

The basis and power of this divine invasion and transformation of our whole being is the Cross of Jesus Christ.

It is the dividing line between the “old” and the “new creation”: “the old man” and everything included in him, everything that we inherited from Adam, and “the new man” and everything included in him, everything that we inherit from Jesus Christ.

Every moment of my life, as I look to the Cross of Jesus, I am cut off, severed, from everything that belongs to my old reality, everything that I am in myself, whether good or bad, and I am immediately invaded by my new reality, everything that I am in Christ and Christ in me.

This is a continuous and dynamic exchange made possible by what Paul says in 2 Cor.5:21: “For our

sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”

I must learn to live in this dynamic exchange, the power of the Cross and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, moment by moment.

This means constantly, moment by moment, consciously and decisively making a choice: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead and pressing on toward the goal to lay hold of all that is in the high calling of God in Christ Jesus – to lay hold of Jesus, my destiny and deepest reality, and to be transformed second by second into his wonderful image.

The power of the cross makes this a definite possibility!
