WHOM DOES THE LORD “KNOW”?

"I will betroth you to Me forever; yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and justice, in lovingkindness and mercy; I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, and you shall know the Lord. But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him."
— Hosea 2:19-20; 1 Corinthians 8:3

The word “know” has a very deep meaning in Scripture.

It is used, among other things, of the intimate fellowship between a man and a woman in marriage.

And the Lord speaks of drawing us into a similar love relationship with Him—a relationship where we become “one spirit” with him.

God’s intention with marriage is that man and woman should be ‘glued together’ into an inseparable unity with each other and become completely “one”: each individual is swallowed up in the common so that nothing can further pull them apart.

That is accomplished by the powerful bond of divine love: “the bond of perfection.”

Only perfect, divine love can accomplish such a thing.

We received that love as a birthday gift when we were born again.

If we continue to respond to the love of Jesus to us and allow the Holy Spirit to draw us ever deeper into the love relationship with Him, we will eventually become inseparably united with Him.

Then, nothing can come between us and the Lord anymore.

He has become our everything and we His everything.

Then He “knows” our “way”: for His way, His way of living and being, has become our way of living and being 1/.).

We Now “walk with God” just like Enoch did, and finally God will take us home to Himself, for He knows us and we have received the testimony that we have “pleased God” (2/.).
