ONLY THROUGH THE SPIRIT

"For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God."
— 1 Corinthians 2:11

This Bible verse reveals two fundamental and extremely crucial truths.

The first: we cannot know who God is in His true essence except through the Spirit of God.

The second: we cannot know who man is in his true essence except through the Spirit of God.

Why is this so?

Because God in His true essence is Spirit.

And because man in his true essence also is spirit.

Thus, man cannot through his natural reason fathom who God is or who he himself is.

Our human reason is limited to the visible, physical reality and has no possibility of reaching beyond it.

God exists outside and above the physical reality, therefore we can only know Him through divine revelation.

What does divine revelation mean?

That the curtain is pulled back to a reality that is infinitely greater and more glorious than the visible-physical: the spiritual reality.

When this happens, we see what no human eye has ever seen, hear what no human ear has ever heard, and understand what is impossible for the human mind to understand (1 Cor.2:9-10).

We do not get to know God only by reading about Him, but by spending time with Him.

But in order to spend time with God, we must have the same life as God.

We must be born again and become His children.

We must partake of the same life as God, the spiritual life.

Then we get spiritual minds.

Then we know God.

He becomes a reality to us: as real and tangible as our own body and everything we perceive with our physical senses.

Our lives are completely transformed by this certainty.

But something happens that is even more important and life-changing, which is connected to this: we get to know ourselves.

We do not get to know ourselves by reading treatises and psychology books about man.

Man is much more than flesh and blood, more than psychology – in his innermost being he is spiritual, and not until we have been born of the Spirit and have become spiritual people, do we know who we really are.

That knowledge lifts us up to a whole new level of life and causes our physical life and the visible-physical world to take on a new form.

Then we see and understand everything around us in a much deeper and more decisive way.

Then life becomes wonderful to live!

But this is possible only through the Spirit!
