Daily Word
A word of encouragement for your day.
UNIFORMITY
"Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God. Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters."
Communion with God, worship, and work must not be three separate activities we hop between like spiritual frogs.
If that is the case, our lives become fragmented, and nothing we do becomes truly satisfying or defines who we truly are.
First of all, we need to realize that communion with God and worship are not merely activities we perform at specific times before moving on to what we might consider our actual, essential tasks: our daily work or our studies.
God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are our life— our true purpose in life—not merely someone or something to whom we devote a little time now and then.
What does it mean to do everything for the glory of God?
We are created to glorify and manifest Him in all that we are and do— to live a godly life in our everyday lives.
How do you do that in practical terms?
You have your appointed time when you are in God’s presence, communing with Him and worshipping Him—but then you do not simply walk away to do something else; instead, you do as Enoch did—you walk with God in your family life and daily routine as well.
In other words, you commune with God during your daily activities and do everything for His glory. This means carrying God’s presence and a spirit of worship with you into your everyday life.
Wherever you go, you are in God’s presence, and you let everything you do rise up to Him as "a fragrant incense"—an act of worship.
When you enter a store to shop, God enters with you, and His presence touches everyone there, without you needing to do anything specific. Perhaps you send up brief prayers to your Savior for the staff and the people you see there.
As you sit on the train on your way to work, someone might wonder why your face is beaming when everyone else looks tired and a bit downcast. That gives you the chance to explain why.
When someone criticizes you—acting grumpy and irritable at work—you bless them and perhaps respond with love. Who knows? That person might want to know why you act that way.
When your life becomes unified, the gray routine takes on colour because God is present in everything you do, turning it into an act of worship. You no longer feel empty and exhausted after the day’s various "must-dos," but rather satisfied and joyful.
You have done the most important thing anyone can do: you have brought joy to God and lived for His glory!
