John presents three facts of divine revelation that are absolutely crucial to our spiritual life:

“We know that no one who is born of God sins.”

Christ Himself is born of God within us to live His sin-conquering life through us.

He never yielded to the devil’s temptations and could boldly declare at the end of His life: “the ruler of the world is coming and he has nothing in Me—he has no power over Me.” Therefore, He is fully capable of “keeping” us so that the devil cannot “touch” us—that is, seize and gain power over us in order to influence and alter our fundamental, sin-free nature.

“We know that we are of God and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.”

We must clearly understand the extent to which everything in this world is saturated and infected by the spirit of sin, which seeks by every means to gain power over us through its deceptive desires.

As children of God, we belong to a different, higher reality than the world, and we carry within us powers that are vastly superior to the destructive forces in our surroundings.

"We know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true."

The world is steeped in falsehood, marked by the deceptive spirit of the liar.

We are born of the Spirit of Truth into the Truth—Jesus Christ—and have been granted the ability to distinguish between right and wrong, truth and falsehood. The more the Word of Truth shapes our understanding, the sharper our discernment becomes, and the harder it is for the spirit of the liar to lead us astray.

We are in the absolute Truth—in the Son of God, Jesus Christ, "eternal life"—and carry this within us.

Let that life permeate and shape your entire being, so that you become fully fortified against the spirit of sin and the liar!
