A word of encouragement for your day.
GENUINE!
"By the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me."
Paul declares that he is completely content to be the unique person he is and to carry out the special calling God has given him.
This is God's will for all of us!
Only by "the grace of God", the life-flow of the Spirit, can I become and be who I am, the complete
and unique person I am eternally designed and destined to be: a genuine and sin-hating person, with no need to assert myself or compare myself to others.
Sin is the independent, false self-life, where we constantly have to compare ourselves with others to see that we are not worse than this one or that one.
God has put/shut up this life under the law, for several different reasons: to prevent its worst manifestations and to expose and sentence it to death.
When we have died away from the independent, false sin-self, and found our true self "in Christ" we no longer need to sin.
We grow increasingly into whole and complete persons, completely satisfied with being our true self and fulfilling our unique life mission. Why then would we "sin" - deviate from it, deviate from our true self in Christ, our deepest joy and from the purpose of our life?
Satan did not understand a man who refused to deviate from His total dependence on and complete obedience to His heavenly Father, no matter how he tried to entice and tempt Him to do so. He did not understand that Jesus was totally whole in the flow of life from His Father, the Source of all He was and did, and thus had all His joy and satisfaction in fulfilling His will, not His own, and to please the Father, not Himself.
Through God's grace, we get to live in the same flow of life as Jesus did, freed by His Spirit to be genuine people, like Him in our daily context, small or large: free from having to follow the evil desires of the flesh for self-fulfilment, self-assertion and comparison.
Then we are truly genuine people: victorious over sin and Satan!
