We are impressed by great things – God is not!

We think that a mega-church, great crowds, tremendous miracles and signs demonstrate the

kingdom of God.

Jesus said that God has chosen to give the kingdom to the “little flock”.

He never said, “where thousands are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them,” but “where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst,” and “if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.”

In other words, the presence of the Lord is not dependent on the number of people, nor the answer to prayer on how many are praying.

We think everything has to be big, big, big for mighty works of God to be displayed – Jesus says that

the most powerful works of God take place in small, insignificant and unimpressive gatherings and happenings.

We think that we have to do “great things for God” – we don´t!

Which did Jesus twice call “good and faithful servant”? Those who had been “faithful with a few

things”. But the one who despised the small things was called “a wicked and lazy servant.”

It was not the rich, who put a lot of money in the offering box that impressed Jesus, but the poor widow who gave the little she had.

In the day of reckoning it will not be ‘the great’ evangelists and preachers who have stood on platforms before big crowds that will be promoted, but those who fulfilled their daily, unnoticed duties with love for God, and who have done small acts of charity out of compassion and care for the needy: given a hungry person to eat or a thirsty person to drink, received a stranger, clothed a naked person, visited a sick person or someone in prison.

Jesus even says that "whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, he shall by no means lose his reward.”
