THE GOAL OF SANCTIFICATION (1)
"Do you think that the Scripture says to no purpose, "The Spirit which He has made to dwell in us desires to jealousy? May the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."
What is the “jealous desire” of the Spirit?
Total and all-other-exclusive influence over our entire being.
What is the ultimate goal of sanctification?
The eradication and blotting out of all foreign spirit influence over our entire being: spirit, soul, and body.
The first cannot be realized without the second.
And it must be perfectly clear to us what the matter is: spirit-influence!
What does that mean?
Two spirit powers are fighting for influence over us as humans.
The Spirit of God and the spirit of the World.
Whoever has influence over people also has influence over this world.
Why is that?
After God created everything, He handed over authority over the earth to man.
“The heavens are the heavens of the Lord, but the earth He has given to the sons of mankind.” (Ps.115:16).
He cannot change that.
Those who are invaded by the Spirit of God represent God’s dominion over the earth and realize His purposes and plans for mankind.
Those who are under the influence of the spirit of this world represent Satan’s dominion over the world and realize His purposes and plans for mankind.
However, if we have the slightest connection to the spirit of this world within us, Satan can still manipulate us and use us for his purposes, without us even realizing it.
Therefore, all foreign spirit influence must be completely eradicated so that the Spirit of God can invade our entire being and establish the lordship of Christ in us.
Then we become tools in God's hands to realize His eternal purposes.
Is that the case with you?
Has sanctification reached its goal with you and in you?
