There is an explosive power in the Word of God.

The Big Bang!

By the power of the Word the whole universe was made.

What an explosion of power!

The Word of God is like dynamite with the ability to blow everything hard inside us to pieces.

But dynamite does not blow up a rock if it is placed on the outside of it.

A deep hole must first be drilled where the dynamite can be inserted.

The explosion occurs in an instant.

The drilling takes time.

Here is our problem.

We stumble past the explosive truths of God’s Word and don’t stop long enough for them to penetrate deeply.

That’s why there are only small explosions here and there.

We are touched in our emotional life or our intellect.

But nothing fundamental in our life changes.

Our real problems lie incredibly deep.

Most of them we are not even aware of – not until the Word and the Spirit are allowed to penetrate and expose them.

But that’s not enough.

They must be blown apart.

We must take time with the Word, let it penetrate deeply and then wait for the fire of the Word to ignite the truths.

Then the explosion takes place.

Sometimes God’s truths hit us like a hammer.

But a hammer has to hit the rock again and again.

At first there is only a small crack.

One more blow and another…., until the great rock is shattered.

But we are in too much of a hurry.

Therefore, nothing is broken into pieces.

No changes occur in the depths of our being.
