THE ACHIEVEMENT-FREE LIFE (1)

"Just as the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, the one who eats Me, he also will live because of Me."
— John 6:57

Human life is characterized by achievement in all areas.

We must perform in school….

We must perform at work…..

We must perform in sports…

Perform, perform, perform…

The result?

Tense nerves.

Exhaustion – burnout.

Psycho-somatic illnesses.

Tablet addiction.

Etc, etc….

The danger is that this spirit creeps into the Christian life –

and that church work becomes a tiring activity.

We must pray, read the Bible and be excellent Christians in order to be accepted by God.

We must keep an activity going in order to appear to be a living church.

But the Christian life and work in the church is not an external “must” – never an achievement.

Jesus’ life and ministry were not an achievement.

It was an outworking of His love-relationship with the Father.

Everything that the “living Father” is and does is a miracle.

Everything that Jesus was and did during His earthly life was a miracle.

When we “eat” Him – appropriate His achievement-free life – we also begin to truly “live”, begin to live the achievement-free life.

Our life becomes an outworking of our love-relationship with Christ.

Without Him, everything we are and do becomes an achievement.

“In Him” everything we are and do becomes “living” – the ever-creating, achievement-free surprise of the divine life – a miracle.

Are you living that life?
