THE POINT OF NO RETURN

"Not that I have already grasped it all or have already become perfect, but I press on if I may also take hold of that for which I was even taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore, all who are mature, let’s have this attitude;"
— Philippians 3:12-15

What is ”the point of no return”?

It is the point where you burn all bridges behind you, and ”do but one thing: forget what lies behind and press on toward the goal.”

Your past life and this world have absolutely no power of attraction on you any longer, there is no more a rubber-band in your back, pulling you to the past.

Now you are only pressing on towards the goal of the Christian life.

And what is that goal?

To be fully transformed and conformed to the beautiful image of Jesus Christ.

That is ”the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” – God´s eternal and unchanging purpose for your life.

Have you seen that clearly enough to be as gripped by it as it had ”taken hold” of Paul?

His mind, his emotions and will, every power in his physical body and above all his spirit: his total being was so completely taken hold of, so powerfully gripped by Jesus Christ, that he couldn´t think about, feel for or desire anything else – but this ”one thing”!

What a fanatic, what a crazy person, you may think!

Yes, he was crazily so in love with Jesus Christ, that nothing else mattered in comparison to knowing Him and becoming like Him.

It didn´t matter to Paul what difficulties, sufferings and personal losses he had to go through to reach

this one goal of his life.

And he wants all who are ”mature” to have the same ”attitude”!

Is this your attitude?

Have you come to ”the point of no return” yet?
