A word of encouragement for your day.
THE MIRACLE OF THE NEW BIRTH
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come."
The greatest and most incomprehensible thing that can ever happen to a person is the new birth!
Therefore, we must never cease to meditate on, receive new revelation of, and be amazed by this incredible miracle.
What does it mean to become “a new creation in Christ”?
A new life has been infused into you that you never had before.
What kind of life is that?
God’s own holy and perfect life: the divine, heavenly God-life, the Christ-life, the supernatural life of the Spirit.
You have become a new kind of person that you never were before.
What kind of person is that?
A Christ-person!
Christ himself has been formed in you as your innermost and essential reality, and has begun to live His divine, sin-Satan-and-the-world-overcoming life in and through you.
You have been given a new identity that you did not have before.
What kind of identity is this?
A Christ identity!
Finally, you begin to know who you are in the deepest sense: a true and genuine person in the only true and genuine person that ever existed: Christ!
You have been introduced to a new reality you have never been in before.
What kind of reality is that?
The heavenly, spiritual reality: the kingdom of God, the world of God.
It is the eternal, indestructible reality, which will be the only lasting reality, when everything we live in now has gone up in smoke.
You can do what you have never been able to do before.
And what is that?
You can love the Lord, your God and Creator of your entire being: worship, obey, and serve Him, and from your heart love and associate with people you would not have wanted to have even a thousand miles away before.
You are on your way to a wonderful goal that has never been your goal earlier.
What goal?
A new heaven and earth, where there will be not even a trace of evil, wickedness, impurity, sorrow, sickness, loneliness, and all the other miseries that plague people in this fallen world: a world of such beauty and loveliness that we cannot even envisage in our wildest imagination.
How often do you let your mind linger in marvel at this “wonder of wonders”?
