WORLD-CONQUERORS
"Behold, an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to be scattered, each to his own, and to leave Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world"
"Whoever has been born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the
world: our faith. Who is the one who overcomes the world, but the one who believes that Jesus is the
Son of God?"
(1 John 5:4-5)
The Only World-Conqueror ever is the man who needed nothing of this world – because He had everything in His Father.
Therefore, the world and the spirit of the world had no influence over Him.
And no matter how the devil tried to deviate Him from His complete devotion and obedience to His heavenly Father, he was not successful. Therefore, the devil had absolutely no hold on Him, no authority over Him.
He is the completely God-centred man, totally free from self-centredness and self-manifestation, from all selfish ambitions and purposes, because His only goal was to glorify the Father and fulfil the purposes of His Father.
His uncompromising devotion and undeviating obedience to His Father in complete dependence on Him is "the faith that has overcome the world."
Therefore, He was a man absolutely free from the three lusts that control and plague every self-centred man and woman in this world (1 Jn.2:15-17), the source of all "tribulation", all our fretting and worrying.
This man, "meek and humble in heart", is the only one who can "give rest" to our fretting and stressed souls, by making us totally free from our self-centred life through the cross, so that it is "no longer I, but Christ, who lives in me."
When Christ lives His life of faith in us, He continues to overcome the world in and through us.
Then we also are world-conquerors like Him!
