HEAD-KNOWLEDGE" OR "HEART-KNOWLEDGE"?
"I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the (full) knowledge of Him, that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know (see)."
"My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts."
(Isaiah 55:8-9)
What Paul and the Lord Himself are speaking about here is something totally different and much more profound than natural, human "head-knowledge".
Supernatural, divine-spiritual "heart-knowledge"!
It's knowledge on a totally different level than the natural human and earthly, as the Lord says in Isaiah 55.
It doesn´t come through reasoning and thinking, is not the result of a sharp brain but of a pure heart that sees what no natural man can see, hears what no man has ever heard and understands things that our natural brain has no capacity to understand.
It is revelation knowledge and is the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit.
Seeing that becomes knowing is the gateway to grasp spiritual truth and reality: you see and understand with the heart first and later with your brain.
Only a pure and humble heart can receive this kind of knowledge as a free gift of grace from God, the Source of all true knowledge, wisdom and understanding.
It is not attained through study and thinking, but freely given as light from heaven, or as it says in the following verses in Isaiah 55: as the rain that falls from heaven, waters the earth and makes it fruitful.
A person with a sharp brain and much human knowledge is not necessarily a good and moral person. On the contrary, he/she can be the most sly and vicious person on earth, using knowledge to manipulate and enslave others and promote him/herself.
But the wisdom from above has a strong moral element in it: it is "pure, peace-loving and gentle, full of mercy and good fruits" and there is absolutely no pride and self-exaltation in it (Jam.3:13-18).
Jesus was a man full of knowledge and wisdom and there has never been a more loving, gentle and kind person than Him.
When His Spirit of wisdom and knowledge fills us, we become beautiful and humble persons like Him.
This is the manifestation of true "heart-knowledge"!
