"Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God."

(Matthew 5:8)

Purity of heart/spirit is absolutely essential for clear spiritual perception and understanding – and the opposite, spirit-defilement is indescribably perilous for our spiritual life.

If the main fountain and outflow is defiled, everything else, i.e. soul and body will also be so.

God is absolutely pure Light, there is no darkness in Him and therefore He has perfect perception and keen discernment.

These are the qualities that marked the earthly life of the man Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and made Him invincible.

What was His secret?

He was diligent to always have His heart focused on His heavenly Father and therefore clear and pure "springs of life" constantly flowed through His whole being.

Only an undeviating "walk in the Light as He is in the Light" will keep us in constantly undefiled, spotless spirit-purity like our Lord.

The question then arises: Why is it so important and blessed to see God?

He is the Source of life and unless our heart is always focused on Him and drawing life from Him, it will be polluted by other sources as God laments in Jeremiah 2:13: "For My people have committed two evils: They have abandoned Me, the fountain of living waters, to carve out for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that do not hold water."

Next question: How and in what sense can we see Him?

We can only see Him with the eyes of our heart.

That´s why purity of heart is so decisive for clear spiritual perception.

The sense in which we see God is consequently completely spiritual: it is an inner revelation of the Lord by the Holy Spirit, making Him as real to us as any physical person we know.

The clearer our inner vision of the Lord, the more powerful the outward transformation of our life into His likeness will be.

Therefore: never allow any spirit-defilement to obscure your spiritual perception!
