Daily Word
A word of encouragement for your day.
THE FULL-BLOODED MAN
"“And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”"
Christ is the “Full-Blooded Man”: the Son of Man, the complete and perfect man, completely and fully formed and shaped by the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit-man is the “Full-Blooded Man”!
A spiritual man is not a pale, isolated ascetic, cut off from all human life, unfit for anything that is called normal human life.
No, the spiritual man is a person who stands in the midst of the mighty stream of life and loves life with all that it contains: culture, learning, science, sports, family and love-life, nature, etc. etc.
The contempt for the human does not come from God.
It is a product of Greek philosophy that infected the Church early on.
God is the Creator and everything He has created is good when His creative Spirit is in it.
Sin is all this when it is inspired by another spirit.
Jesus was not an other-worldly person, He was contemptuously called “a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of publicans and sinners” by the hypocritical people of that time.
When His Spirit is allowed to permeate and fill us, we become “full-blooded people” just like Him, genuine people in the midst of the stream of human life. But our focus will be the Kingdom of God and we will not allow ourselves to be soiled by the unclean and vile that characterizes so much of what people do and produce in this fallen world.
A “full-blooded person” lives with his heart in heaven and his feet on the ground!
